DRYER IN BASEMENT CAUSES SMOKEY FIRE ON GORDON STREET

Allentown, Pa. - Just after 21:00 hours, Allentown transmitted box 3137 for a house fire at 164 Gordon Street. Engines 6 (5), 4, 9, Truck 2 and BN 4 were assigned.

The fire dispatcher alerted companies that smoke was seen on the street cam. Engine 6 arrived and reported smoke and stretched in with Truck 2 right behind them.

Engine 6 under the command of Lt. James Kutz, led his crew to the basement to find a dryer fire. Engine 6 wet the line and the crew doused the fire within minutes.

Engine 4 arrived at Gordon and Ridge and brought a water supply in for 6. The supply line was not needed due to the quick knock down by Engine 6.

Engine 9 approached from 2nd Street. A fan was set up at the front door to ventilate the home.

Battalion 4 requested a Fire Marshall to the scene. Companies picked up and were out of there by 21:50.

Engine 6 remained on the scene until the Fire Marshall arrived.
